Head Start Program Is Relocating; In-person Registration Moves to Mars Hill Offices

The Virgin Islands Department of Human Services Head Start program has announced that due to the demolition and reconstruction of the Anna’s Hope administrative headquarters, its staff and operations are currently being relocated. Operations at the Anna’s Hope offices have been completely discontinued. Please take note that recruitment and registration of new students are ongoing.

For in-person registration, families should visit the Frederiksted Head Start Center located at Mars Hill in Frederiksted, behind Claude O. Markoe Elementary School. Support services for Head Start families will continue to be provided by Head Start staff collocated at the various Head Start locations across the island.

To Qualify for the Head Start Program:

  • Children must be three years old by December 31.
  • Applicants must provide the child’s birth certificate as well as proof of household income for federal eligibility determination.
  • Adults who are guardians must provide evidence of legal guardianship such as a court order.
  • Parents of children with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply for enrollment regardless of income.
