CRUZ BAY — V.I. Water and Power Authority First Class Linemen Ricky Printice and Roy Freeland, helped lift V.I. Fire Department firefighters, including Magabe Calixte, far left, up above Mongoose Junction on Friday, January 23, to reach the stubborn blaze in the wooden second story of the shopping center renowned for its stonework facade.

The fire smoldered and flared for hours in the roof of the structure until the WAPA trucks arrived to back up the beleaguered St. John Fire Companies Bravo and Romeo.
