Historic Preservation Office Announces Eight Sites Added to National Register of Historic Places

Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources has announced that the Virgin Islands State Historic Preservation Office (VISHPO) has successfully worked with governmental agencies, community groups and organizations toward the approval of eight new nominations for Virgin Islands Historic Sites. These sites are now proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The eight new nominations for Virgin Islands Historic Sites that were added to the National Register of Historic Places are:

1) Sprat Hall Historic District Frederiksted

2) Sub Base Barracks No.2   Charlotte Amalie

3) Holy Cross Episcopal Church   St. Croix

4)  LaGrange Historic District Frederiksted

5)  Kingshill Lutheran Church St. Croix

6)  Evelyn E. Marcelli Elementary School Charlotte Amalie
