Iguana Enjoys Afternoon Swim at Maho Bay

Swimming Iguana

This iguana was captured swimming and playing at Maho Bay on Saturday, February 9. The iguana spent more than an hour in the water, where he put on a show for beach-goers, according to St. John resident Dr. Caroline S. Rogers, who captured the image.

“Lots of people got to enjoy watching the iguana, and he even seemed to be playing in the little waves near the shore,” said Rogers, who noted that reptiles are not known for a tendency to enjoy playing. “He or she seemed to be an excellent swimmer. It was fun to watch several little children snorkeling up to him.”
