Ilma Iris Rivera Dies at 76

Ilma Iris Rivera

Ilma Iris Rivera, also known as “Iris,” of Estate New Castle Coakley died on Feb. 28. She was 76 years old.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Veneranda Cecilio; father, Francisco Rivera Sr.; brother, Francisco Rivera Jr.; grandson, Akido Parrilla Sr.; and great nephew, Daniel “Danny” Adames.

She is survived by her daughters: Lysette “Liz” Rivera, Priscilla Rivera and Jeanette Rivera-George; grandchildren: Terrance Mario Melendez, Adio and Aaliyah Francis, Reynisha, Deynisha and Naisha Ilarraza, Nathaniel and Jahkeem Dowdye, Angel Rodriguez, Kelsey Parrilla and Omari George; and great-grandchildren: Cateleya and Naizia Melendez, J’Niyah Fawkes, Shamiyah, Shamirah and Shamalyah Granville, De’Anthony and Deanna Bates, K’Mari, Aloine and Kaide George, K’Oir Williams, Akido “KJ” Parrilla Jr., Nadeem Dowdye, K’Lani Todman, Armani Liburd and Analeia Williams.

She is also survived by sisters: Ada “Sylvia” Rivera Lopez and Carmen Rivera; nieces: Wanda “Wandy” Gonzalez-Adames, Betty Rivera, Yolanda Rivera and Sandra “Sandy” Rivera-Stanzione; nephews: Edgar “Gary” Gonzalez, and Ricardo “Richie” Gonzalez; great nieces: Christiana Hernandez, Melani Adames, Tatiana, Diana, Denisha and Lizbeth Gonzalez and Bianca Rivera; and great nephews: Jeremy “Da Real Flizop” Adames, Marc Hernandez, Justin Irving, Johnathan Majia, Jeremy and Anthony Stanzione, Joshua, Moises, Samuel and Edgar “Popo” Gonzalez.

Other survivors include sons-in-law: Ashley “Ash” George and Eustace “Rez” Dorset; brother-in-law, Reynaldo “Rey” Lopez; special friend, Miguel “Mike” Figueroa; as well as other relatives and friends: the Cecelio family, Monell family, Burgos family, Figueroa family, Vialet family, the Department of Education, and the Ricardo Richards Elementary School family and Alexander Henderson Elementary School family.

Special thanks to The  Caribbean Kidney Center Staff, Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital (Med Surge Staff), Pro Health staff (Castley Coakley), and Broward Health Medical Center; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A funeral service will held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Iglesia  Hermanos Unidos En Cristo ZION, Estate Castle Coakley. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
