The Claude O. Markoe Elementary School on St. Croix will resume in-person classes Tuesday, Sept. 14, following early dismissal on Monday, due to a power outage that affected most of the campus.
WAPA crews were dispatched to the Frederiksted school to resolve the issue, which resulted from vegetation growing on an electric pole which caused a fuse to blow.
Classes were conducted virtually for the remainder of the school day.
The Department of Education thanks faculty, staff, parents, and students for their flexibility as the matter was resolved.
