The Virgin Islands Port Authority announced today that some vessels have changed their itineraries or canceled calls to the U.S. Virgin Islands due to safety concerns caused by inclement weather. While the USVI’s seaports are open, heavy wave activity is occurring at some ports. VIPA issued the following update:
Seaports – St. Thomas/St. John
There have been no cancellations of cruise ship calls to St. Thomas/St. John, and the schedules for Feb. 7 and Feb. 8 are:
Wednesday, February 7
WICO – Disney Fantasy
WICO – Niew Amsterdam
WICO – Norwegian Encore
Crown Bay – Wonder of the Seas
Crown Bay – Evrima Yacht (*additional call due to itinerary change)
Thursday, February 8
WICO – Zaandam
St. John – Evrima Yacht
Passenger and car ferry operations between St. John and St. Thomas will operate per the normal schedule. No cancellation of service has been reported.
All cargo vessels are expected to arrive as scheduled.
Seaports – St. Croix
The Adventure of the Seas canceled its scheduled call to St. Croix on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
All cargo vessel operations at the Wilfred “Bomba” Allick Port and Transshipment Center (the Containerport) have been canceled for Wednesday, Feb. 7.
Airports
The Cyril E. King Airport (STT) and the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) will remain open. Travelers are asked to contact their airline directly with any inquiries regarding flight schedules.
