Ivanna Eudora Kean H.S. Gets First Win at 40th V.I. Quiz Bowl

Ivanna Eudora Kean High School wins 40th Virgin Islands Quiz Bowl

Ivanna Eudora Kean High School took home the championship trophy by defeating All Saints Cathedral School for the 2019 Virgin Islands Quiz Bowl held Monday, April 15, at the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School Auditorium.

Congratulations go out to all of the students who participated this year. This year only three teams were in competition as former champions Good Hope/Country Day and Charlotte Amalie High School were unable to field teams. The double elimination competition consisted of five rounds that tested the students’ knowledge of traditional classroom subject areas such as the arts, culture, languages, mathematics, music and science as well as current events.

The 2017 hurricanes disrupted the annual event when the games could not be held in 2018 due to challenges with scheduling and double session classes for some.

The St. Thomas-St. John Federation of Teachers is looking forward to the return of these teams and the two St. Croix public schools for next year’s games as well the possibility of introducing two new teams in 2020.

The 2019 Virgin Islands Quiz Bowl was sponsored by St. Thomas-St. John Federation of Teachers, WTJX Channel 12 and Virgin Islands Lottery Community Initiative.
