Street Level VI (SLVI) has announced the VI Montessori Percussion Ensemble will appear in its debut public performance at 3:45 p.m. during the Jaguar Band’s finale performance from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, March 19 (Sapphire Sunday), at Sapphire Beach Bar. The ensemble will play during the Jaguars’ break.

This high-energy band has been touring the USVI annually since 1988. Its musical performances are fabulously interactive – think conga lines, limbo competitions and wildly danceable tunes! While the Jaguars perform mainly classic rock numbers, they also delight fans with a catalog of original material. This event is supported by sponsors Everlong Excursions and the Ruedemann family. Preceding this finale performance, the Jaguars will entertain March 14-17 at the world famous The Beach Bar on St. John.

The VI Montessori Percussion Ensemble was created in January of this year. These 6th-grade musicians play a variety of ‘Orff’ percussion instruments, including student-sized glockenspiels, xylophones and metallophones. The group plays popular tunes from the Caribbean and Latin America, and it is excited for their upcoming debut performance.

VI Montessori School and International Academy (VIMSIA) Music Director Joie Byrd said, “Our music program was the recent recipient of a generous donation from Street Level VI, and we are so looking forward to our students being able to showcase to the community the amazing work that the SLVI Youth Music Education Program does throughout the territory.”
