Julia Elizabeth Hickey Dies at 37

Julia Elizabeth Hickey

Julia Elizabeth Hickey, also known as “Sunnie Mermaid Farmer,” of Frederiksted, St. Croix, died on Friday, Dec. 1.  She was 37 years old.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Hickey; grandparents: Mary and Joseph Hickey and Milan and Evelyn Gaspar; sister, Camille Hickey; aunts: Laura Austin and Joellyn Perez; uncle, and Patrick Hickey.

She is survived by her mother, Susan Gaspar Hickey; sister, Gaye Kassir; brothers: Patrick, Paul and Chris; sister-in-law, Ana Hickey; nieces: Katie and Hannah Kassir; nephew, Dan Hickey and Patrick John Hickey; great-niece, Amelie Hickey; great-nephew, Dylan Hickey; and aunts: Catherine Bertelli, Josephine John, Cheryl Stout, Michelle Iwanski, Tammi Gaspar and Samanthia Gaspar.

She is also survived by uncles: Terry John, Luciano Bertelli, Dan Gaspar, Michael Gaspar and Glenn Stout; special friends: all of the people on St. Croix, especially: Kathy Tiddack, Sherry Gabelt, Emily Bowlan, Kathy Schultheis Kauffman, Jason Wood and Sokol people around the USA; cousins and other relatives: Kelly, Lacy, Erica, Erin, John, Kathy, John, Gabby, Marina, Colt, Chiara, Dan, Dominic, Chris, Suzanne, Gunner, Jeremy, Jaxon, Paul, Richard and Nicole.

There will be a celebration of Julia’s life starting at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Cowboy Beach, Frederiksted.  Her ashes will be scattered around 1 p.m.  Please donate to any animal welfare, domestic violence support services, Ruff Start STX (ruffstartSTX.org) or youth programs in her name, but if you want to bring flowers, that is okay too.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Schuster’s Crematorium LLC.
