Liberty VI is also reassuring customers that the company will not change phone numbers or area codes for Liberty customers who live in the USVI.
“There has been a persistent rumor that Liberty VI intends to change its customers’ area codes in the territory. We will not do that,” Kling said regarding this issue. “We reiterate that, as a mobile service provider, Liberty is not asking customers to give up their ‘340’ area code, nor does it have the power to change an area code. Area codes are overseen by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is the entity that assigns each territory with its area codes, range of quality and accessible options.”
