Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach sends the following message to all the Virgin Islands students as they return to school.
“I join the Virgin Islands community in extending best wishes to all students in the territory as we launch the 2023-2024 school year. I welcome each of you to a year filled with success and rewarding opportunities, and one in which you will overcome any challenge before you.
“Our community of educators, administrators, parents and mentors has enthusiastically pledged an unwavering commitment to support each of you by facilitating a year of positive learning and growing. We encourage you to become innovative and creative in every aspect of academics. Staying focused and dedicated to your schoolwork will take you to higher heights.
“Every school year is unique. There will be historical events of territorial, national and global significance this school year that will be both impactful and memorable. There will also be outstanding achievements for the students, schools and the territory that many of you may experience and will be fortunate to be a part of. Do embrace every opportunity with an open mind and ambitious spirit, while always being proud of your alma mater and always having faith in your ability to accomplish your goals.
“Although you are all on different paths on the academic journey, you are all achievers. There is no goal you cannot attain, as long as you work hard and stay focused. I encourage you to become involved in the myriad of activities and programs that are offered in your schools. Remember to always be a good team player who both leads and supports.
“I commend the village of parents, guardians, family and friends who play an active role in the development of our students. With your patience and guidance our students will be able to pursue their goals and achieve success. I also extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the excellent cadre of faculty and staff who invest so much of their time and talent daily to prepare our students to become our next generation of leaders. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our students.
