Lillian Ann Miller Dies in Washington, D.C.

Lillian Ann MillerLillian Ann Miller passed away peacefully on July 17 in Washington, D.C. She was born Aug. 14, 1936 in Harlem, N.Y., to James and Easter Varner.

Lillian was the assistant director for mental health at the St. Thomas Department of Mental Health United States Virgin Island for 13 years. She retired from the Health Department in 1995 and relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, to research her family roots and continue her education. Lillian’s life was a living example of being educated, kind, compassionate and forgiving.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Varner. She was the loving and devoted mother of four children: Lauri Michel (Kirk), Hillsboro, N.C., Robin Miller (Quentin), Washington, D.C., Karen Miller, Atlanta, Ga., and Mark Miller (Sue), Castle Rock, Co. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Terry, Charlotte, N.C.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends, all of whom she loved and touched deeply.
