From babies in strollers to mature runners 60 and over, more than 252 community members (most of them students) completed the 10K, 5K, or the 1K kids “Fun Run” races and crossed the finish line at Magens Bay during the 8th Annual M2M Road Race this weekend. It was the biggest turnout post-2017 hurricanes for the road race, which has grown in support and participation since its inception in 2013.

“Grit and resilience” are cornerstone values of the VI Montessori School and Peter Gruber International Academy, which helped organize the race. These qualities were evident in the smiles, fist pumps, and sense of accomplishment from participants as they climbed the hills at Peterborg and back down. Ground support was provided by St. Thomas Rescue, who diligently provided traffic control and kept runners and walkers safe. Volunteers with the St. Thomas Association of Runners handled the timing, according to the press release.

VIMSIA is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Proceeds from this weekend’s race will be used to support the school’s athletic programs, the press release stated.
