Man Assaulted by Two Women Outside Carnival Village, Police Say

Two women on St. Thomas have been arrested for assaulting a man Thursday outside Carnival Village, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Mardette O. Ward, 32, was positively identified by the male victim as the woman who assaulted him. The victim stated that he was in the Carnival Village shortly after J’Ouvert when Ward and her girlfriend approached him. The victim stated that he was attacked by both females, which resulted in a large laceration to the center of his forehead, according to the police report.

Ward turned herself into the Domestic Violence Unit, where she was placed under arrest. Her charges are assault in the third degree, simple assault, disturbance of the peace and aiding and abetting. Her bail was set at $25,000. She was then turned over to the Bureau of Corrections, pending her advice of rights hearing, the police report stated.

The second woman involved, Diniqua Diaz, 27, was positively identified by the male victim as his ex-girlfriend, who assaulted him. The victim further stated that Diaz shattered his front windshield and caused other damages to his vehicle while their minor child was inside, the report stated.

Diaz turned herself into the Domestic Violence Unit and was placed under arrest. She was charged with assault in the third degree- DV, violation of a court order, damage to property- DV, simple assault-DV, disturbance of the peace-DV, reckless endangerment and aiding and abetting. With no bail set, Diaz was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections, pending her advice of rights hearing, police said.
