Maria Marcelle-Antoine, affectionately known to many as “Lil” or “Te Lil,” died on Dec. 7.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Anne Marie Fenolen-Stephen and Joseph Xavier; brother: Adamson, Tony and Antoine “Dicken” Xavier.

She is survived by her husband, Francis “Shaspo” Antoine. Left to cherish the memories are her six children; daughters: Marsha Marcelle-Roberts and Mora Marquis; sons: Jerry Marcelle, Albert “Demus” Marcelle Jr., Malison Marcelle and Mario Marcelle; sisters: Monica “Mona” Paul, Florita “Foita” Marcelle, Maryann Francess “Tita” Xavier, Vomula “Nan” Xavier, Virgin Xavier, Virginia “Eya” Jene, Magdalene “Elyon” Emmanuel and Fumize; and brothers: Sulivance “T-Pool” Xavier and Paul “Cherry” Xavier.

She is also survived by grandchildren: Zimran Marcelle, Juan Perez, Jeremiah Marcelle, Malachi Marcelle, Amiya Marcelle, Alyssa Marcelle, Kyla Fabio, Jinayah Roberts, Marquel “Markie” Roberts, Malysia Marcelle, Mia Marcelle, Malison “JR” Marcelle Jr., Mi’ya and Marianna “Marie” Marcelle; great-granddaughters: Ayanna and Alanisse Rodriguez; stepdaughters: Annisha Antoine and Chermin Aurelien; stepsons: Dwayne Nelson and Roland Edwin; sons-in-law: Juney Roberts and Harvey Marquis; daughters-in-law: Erica Encarnacion-Marcelle, Veron Joseph and Jacinta G. Marcelle; and goddaughter, Tyneshia “Tatie” Charlemagne.

Other survivors include best friend Maria “Ula” Jameson; special friends and family: Antonia Noellien, Mary A. Weeks, Kania Xavier-Recai, Charalyn Xavier, Tisha Mathurin, Magela Xavier, Scholastica Calixte, Balbina “Christina” Charlemagne, Jean George, Calixta “Marilyn” Isidore, Symphia “Linda” Lewis and family, Unita Cassius-Williams and family, and the Encarnacion family; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Church of God Holiness, 277 Estate Peter’s Rest. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery. The family respectfully requests those in attendance wear shades of blue.
