Marilyn Parris Dies at 77

Marilyn Parris

Marilyn Parris, of Little Princesse, Christiansted, died on July 30. She was 77 years old.

She is survived by her daughters: Sandra Liburd and Verna Viola Liburd; grandchildren: Shakeema E. Romero, Shakeem Edwards, Shenika Niles, Lemar Bough and Lanese Bough; great-grandchildren: Candece Romero, Tahj Romero, Liam Bough and Logan Bough; sisters: Joycelyn Thomas Powell, Dosia Herbert, Eualalia Herbert, Vivia Herbert, Paulette Herbert, Lavena Herbert, Sherry Herbert and Maudlyn Herbert; and brothers: Muslen Herbert, Glenroy Herbert and Burnel Herbert.

She is also survived by numerous nieces to include: Shauna Thomas, Rosemary Brown, Cleona Scarborough, Sharon Williams, Andrea Weekes, Constance Smithen, Dionne Hanley and Audith Smithen; numerous nephews to include: Christopher Thomas, Julian Thomas, Leighton Thomas, Leonard Thomas Jr., Rhenquist Smithen, Eustace Smithen and Troy Veaver; great niece, Diarra Thomas; great nephews: Jai Thomas, Shaquille Thomas and Leon Thomas; and aunt, Mary Parris.

Other survivors include sister-in-law, Rhea Scarborough; special friends: Charles Fenton, Beverly Williams, Elizabeth Francis, “Ferde,” Goldene Meade, Joyce Stapleton, Lighthouse Mission family and the Seventh-day Adventist Church; cousins and other relatives: Donald Bough, Romeo Parris, Yvette Maynard, Makeda Sabree, Alton Parris, Calvin Parris, Denise Anthony, Steve Parris, Veronica Maynard, Gizette Thomas, Marie Thomas and Glenda Thomas; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by funeral services at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, at the Iglesia Adventista Del Septimo Dia (Sunny Acres). Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
