Mays Three-peats at Beach to Beach Power Swim; Iverson Sets New Women’s Record

Bryson Mays, 17, won the long-course unassisted  for the third time in a row at the Friends of V.I. National Park’s Ninth Annual Beach to Beach Power Swim on Sunday morning, May 27. Under perfect conditions with small seas and light winds, Mays, from St. Croix, matched exactly his record-setting swim from last year, crossing the finish line in one hour, 10 minutes and 40 seconds.

On the women’s side, Brittney Iverson, 24, set a new long-course unassisted record, finishing in one hour, 17 minutes and 37 seconds, in what was her first ever open water race. The Oregon State University graduate lives on St. Thomas and competed in her first Beach to Beach Power Swim, which will certainly not be her last.
