Melissa Clarke Charmon Dies at 43

Melissa Kurline Clarke Charmon, affectionately known as “Mel,” passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, at the Lyndon B Johnson Hospital, Houston, Texas, after battling cancer.

She leaves behind her husband, Randie Charmon; son, Raheem Charmon; mother, Linda Marcia Bully; father, Donald Felicien; siblings: Geneva Clarke James, Kenilus Clarke, Sacha Clarke Augusta, Elton Clarke, Kersharma Edmond, Curtania Edmond and Andre Nicholas; brothers-in-law: Collin James and Kelvin Augusta; sisters-in-law; Lisa Clarke and Sarah Jagrup Clarke; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and colleagues.

Melissa was born on the beautiful island of St. Lucia on Feb. 24, 1980. She was a teacher by profession, and taught at the Wee Wisdom Montessori School, Babonneau Primary and Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary schools, whilst she lived on the island.

Thereafter, she migrated to St. Croix, USVI, where she lived for four years, and taught at the AZ Academy and the St. Croix Seventh-day Adventist School. She migrated to Baytown, Texas, six years ago, where she continued her career as a teacher. There she taught at Footprints Learning Academy, Prosperity Learning Academy and most recently Baytown Early Head Start and Head Start Center.

Melissa had a passion for arts and crafts, and painting and was in the process of obtaining a degree for graphic design from Lee College, which was another of her passions.

Melissa was very outgoing and had a bubbly personality. She was well-loved by her family and friends. She will surely be missed.
