Minister Irene Creque Williams

Minister Irene Creque Williams died on Monday, March 4.

Minister Williams was a native Virgin Islander, long-time educator and administrator in the Virgin Islands Department of Education, a charter member of the teachers’ union, a realtor, an active member of the body of Christ, and a minister at Word of Faith International Christian Center on St. Thomas.  Minister Williams was an engaged Virgin Islands community member, with a passion for praise and worship and prayer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sen. Lloyd L. Williams; father, Darwin Creque; and mother, Clarissa (Jackson) Creque.

She is survived by her daughters: Lisa  (Rickie) Williams, Norman and Taya Leonard; grandchildren: Matai Leonard and Zaiden Norman, Sarah Hanicia, ‘Nici’ Norman, Kalani Norman, Tameka Francis, I’vanya Hobson and Bria Richardson; special daughters: Vernell Stevens and Alicia Richardson; sister-in-law, Trecia Galiber Isaac; and brothers-in-law: Bernard ‘Young Blood’ Williams Sr. and Keith (Rose) Nicholson.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews: LaVerne, Laurie, Lorn (Rose), Lloyd (Katie), Laura, Bernard Jr. “Marlo,” Keith “Iron,” Lloyd, Kurt, Shawn, Keith Jr., Pasha, Pashima, Shelma, Kahlea and Bernadine; special sisters: Elsie (Leon) Monsanto and Diane (Raymond) George; and special niece and nephews: Tameka Monsanto, Troy Mahoney, Tizone Mahoney, Gayland George and Sedao George.

Other survivors include special cousins: Dr. Leah Creque, Dr. Monte (Barry) Williams, Tey Tiwoni, Geralda “Audrey” Farrell, Beverly Williams, Gordan Reilly Sr., Sen. Myron Jackson, Rev. Dr. Sharon (Gerald) McDonald, Sen. Cleone Creque, Roan Creque and Alston (Maria) Creque Sr.; special friends: Ingrid Lewis, Doris Lindquist, Beryl Ottley, Jean Bryan, Delores Todman, Dr. Celina Lucia Woods, Julie Donovan and Rev. Dr. Judith Hodge;  members of the CAHS Class of 1962; members of the Creque, Jackson, Wheatley, Gibbs, Reilly, Macedon, Maddicks, Golden, Gill and DeWindt families; as well as many other beloved relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully requested to attend the first viewing held from 5-6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 4, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home.

The Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, April 5, at Word of Faith International Christian Center – St. Thomas, beginning with the second viewing from 8:30-10 a.m., with a service immediately following.  The interment will be at the Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
