Ocean Point Terminals (Ocean Point or the Company) has announced it has awarded $25,000 in scholarships to 14 noteworthy U.S. Virgin Islands students for the 2023-2024 school year. Ocean Point maintains a strong commitment to education, and this funding is allotted annually to support scholarship recipients in their pursuit of a degree at an accredited U.S. college, university or technical/vocational college.
This year’s recipients include:
Axel Adams, who will attend Florida International University
Lindsay Barr, who will attend Colorado State University
Bry’Nice Berley, who will attend Nova Southeastern University
Joshua Calcano, who will attend the University of the Virgin Islands
Luca Forno D’Adamo, who will attend Goucher College
Zachary Edwards, who will attend University of Colorado Boulder
Jayden Ferdinand, who will attend Pennsylvania State University
J’ovanny Jno-Pierre, who will attend Swarthmore College
DeMario Obeius, who will attend Washington University
Ariel Paul, who will attend Northwestern University
Kalani Simon, who will attend the University of the Virgin Islands
Mariella Stout, who will attend Montclair State University
Joscelin Torres, who will attend Texas State University
Anissa Wallen, who will attend Coppin State University
Ocean Point Terminals’ Chief Executive Officer Todd Dillabough expressed pride for this year’s recipients. “Our company remains committed to supporting students throughout their post-secondary journey, and we are honored to reward these scholars who place a high value on education,” said Dillabough.
Every year Ocean Point awards $100,000 in scholarships, and recipients are selected based on their scholastic record and financial need compared to other applicants. Scholarships are provided for up to four years if the student maintains good academic standing. Since 2016, Ocean Point has supported a total of 114 individual students in their pursuit of a quality post-secondary education.
Additionally, Ocean Point donates $140,000 annually to the University of the Virgin Islands to support the UVI Process Technology degree program and the development of our local workforce. To date, the Company has awarded more than $900,000 for training and scholarships to local recipients across the territory.
