Olympic Athlete Comes Home to Coral Bay

St. John sailing phenom Mayumi “Mimi” Roller will represent the U.S. Virgin Islands at the Summer Olympic Games this July and August in London, England. After qualifying at the Laser World Championships in Germany last month — her final chance to punch her ticket to London — to race Laser Radials at the Games this summer, Roller returned home to Coral Bay last week. On Saturday morning, June 2, she spoke to students in the Kids and the Sea St. John program, above, and below with KATS instructor Jennifer Robinson, about her Olympic campaign and her training regimen. Roller first learned how to sail through the all-volunteer, non-profit program and remains a proud KATS St. John ambassador today. Congratulations Mimi! St. John is rooting for you!
