The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is encouraging eligible residents to use the option to receive their Social Security Stipends by mail.
To receive their stipends by mail, recipients can send an email to arpa@omb.vi.gov with “SSA Stipend” in the subject line and provide the following information:
- Name
- Last four digits of their Social Security number
- Phone number
- Correct address
The $500 payment will be issued to those Social Security recipients who are seniors or who are on disability.
These funds are being made available from the American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, which allows for helping households respond to the negative economic impacts of the pandemic.
OMB to Continue Distribution of Social Security Stipend Checks During Week of Nov. 14-18.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) will continue the distribution of Social Security Stipend checks that the Government of the Virgin Islands (GVI) is distributing as part of President Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act from the COVID-19 pandemic.
OMB currently is distributing checks to eligible residents and will extend distribution through next week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 14-18.
These funds are being made available from the American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund which allows for helping households respond to the negative economic impacts of the pandemic.
The payments come after a month-long process during which the Government of the Virgin Islands worked to resolve issues with addresses provided by the Social Security Administration for Social Security recipients in the territory.
The $500 payment will be issued to those Social Security recipients who are seniors or who are on disability.
***In addition to next week’s extended distribution dates, OMB is distributing the checks this week on Wednesday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 10, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in both districts.
Distribution on St. Thomas will be conducted in the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital’s front parking lot; distribution on St. Croix will be conducted in the parking lot of the ‘VIYA Building’ in Estate Diamond.
On St. John, the checks were available for pick-up at the Administrator’s Office on Monday, Nov. 7.
Recipients are required to present a valid picture I.D. to receive the stipend.
Individuals who cannot physically pick up their checks in person can have the check mailed by sending an email to OMB at arpa@omb.vi.gov and provide the agency with the following information:
- Name
- Last four digits of their Social Security number
- Phone number
- Correct address
After providing OMB with that information, arrangements will be made to have the checks mailed.
