Operation Domino Effect Leads to Arrest of Three Adults and One Minor

Three men and one minor were arrested on St. Croix involving the confiscation of firearms and a burglary due to Operation Domino Effect, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The 911 Emergency Call Center received reports of shots being fired in the Mutual Homes Housing Apartments on April 21. The responding officers received information that there was a gunshot victim at Mutual Homes. Contact was made with the gunshot victim, who reported to the investigators that Adiel O. Huertas “Macho” and Jaheem A. Maxwell were the men that fired shots at him. After the investigation, a search warrant for Huertas’ and Maxwell’s residences were obtained and granted by the Superior Court Judge, according to the police report.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operations Bureau executed the search warrants Thursday at Huertas’ and Maxwell’s residence. A firearm was located at their residence and Huertas and Maxwell were placed under arrest without incident, the police report stated.

They were each charged with carrying of firearms openly or concealed. Huertas, 18, and  Maxwell, 26, were booked and unable to post their bail, which was set at $50,000 each. They were subsequently remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending their advice of rights hearing set for Friday at the Superior Court, police said.

Operation Domino Effect also led to the arrest of a man for the burglary of the Heavy Materials Quarry located at Mount Pellier, Frederiksted on St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department reported.

On October 10, two men were caught on video as they burglarized the Heavy Materials Quarry. On May 12, an arrest warrant was obtained for the two men from the Superior Court, according to the police report.

Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau and Special Operation Bureau from St. Croix and St. Thomas executed the arrest warrant Thursday and Angel Rosa Jr., 19, was arrested, the police report stated.

Rosa Jr. was charged with burglary in the third degree, unauthorized use of a vehicle and grand larceny. He was booked and unable to post his bail, which was set at $25,000 He was later transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility, where he was remanded pending his advice of rights hearing on Friday at the Superior Court, police said.

During Operation Domino Effect, a minor was also arrested for possession of a firearm. This matter is being handled by the Juvenile Division, police said.
