Paradise Jam Summer Tour: Wagner College Takes on ISV National Team

The Virgin Islands Senior Men’s National team has partnered with Basketball Travelers for the second time in three years for their annual Paradise Jam Summer Tour, the Virgin Islands Basketball Federation announced Tuesday.

Wagner College men’s basketball team will spend July 3 – Aug. 5 on St. Thomas competing against the ISV National Team, as well as immersing itself in the beautiful island culture. Team ISV and Wagner will go head-to-head Aug. 2 and 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the University of the Virgin Islands, according to the press release.

On a historical note, the first Virgin Islander to be drafted by the NBA was Ray Hodge in 1970 and he was also an All-American at Wagner College. Hodge was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992, the press release stated. 

In 2021, the University of Missouri-Kansas City women’s basketball team faced an all-star women’s team from St. Croix during the pandemic. Fans were not permitted to attend the games due to COVID-19 protocols. However, in this edition, fans are encouraged to attend the games and cheer at their loudest, the release stated.

Following the Paradise Jam Summer Tour games, team ISV leaves for Argentina Aug. 11 to participate in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023 – Americas, it said.
