Photo Focus: Children of St. John Enjoy Halloween

The children on St. John had two sites to go trick or treating this year — at Mongoose Junction and the V.I. Port Authority’s gravel lot.

At Mongoose Junction, children got to take home books in addition to sweet treats. Spider-Man was happy to bring home Batman.

At the gravel lot, kids went “trunk or treating” from decorated cars and sometimes that meant getting close to a very big spider.

This is the fifth year that Dana Neil has organized Halloween events on St. John, and the second time the event has been held in the gravel lot. “It’s a great location — contained and very safe. The Port Authority didn’t charge us and cleaned it all up for us,” she said.

Asked why she does it, Neil said, “I’m a mom who loves her children and all the children of St. John.”

While the children were on their way home from trick or treating, the adults were getting ready for PINKing Out loud, a block party fundraiser for breast cancer awareness with the theme of EmpowerHER VI.
