The Estate Adventure Pavilion and Trail officially opened for hiking on Friday morning. About 50 participants were present for the grand opening.

This was all made possible thanks to the joint effort of AARP in the Virgin Islands, the 2023 AARP Community Challenge Grantee, the VI Trail Alliance (VITAL), and Community Partners.

The three-quarter mile hiking trail is located at Estate Lower Love across from the V.I. Agriculture Department and contains a parking space and a pavilion.

According to a pamphlet given out at the event, the trail used to be a cane field from the 1700s until 1966.

After the ribbon cutting, Olasee Davis took visitors on the 2-mile-long trail. On the trail, hikers anticipated seeing an old Danish bridge, different types of trees, fruit plants, and insects.

“AARP is proud to have been part of this undertaking that fosters an appreciation for our island while enhancing the lives of all Virgin Islanders. This project is the latest example of the creativity of the VI Trail Alliance that offers Virgin Islanders and visitors a chance to experience the history and natural beauty of the US Virgin Islands,” stated AARP-VI State Director Troy de Chabert-Schuster.
