Sentiments toward the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority after recent major outages on St. John have led to calls to join a protest in Cruz Bay Tuesday evening. That’s when utility officials plan to hold a town-hall meeting at the Julius E. Sprauve School to address community concerns.
“This is about having an open, honest conversation with the community,” said WAPA CEO and Executive Director Karl Knight in a statement issued Friday.
Organizers with the St. John Community Action WAPA Protest have prepared a list of demands, including one for Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. to declare an energy state of emergency for St. John.
