Photo Focus: Reindeer Sighting on the St. Thomas Waterfront

Travelers along St. Thomas’ Veterans Drive are being greeted by a bit of holiday magic thanks to MSI Building Supply and SeaChest Ace, according to a press release Wednesday.

A small herd of deer can be seen at the waterfront ‘deer crossing’ in the grassy, palm-lined area by the intersection of Yacht Haven Grande and the Lucinda Millin home, welcoming islanders and visitors to a very special season on St. Thomas, the press release stated.

MSI Building Supply and SeaChest Ace created the display of three 15-foot plywood deer and two smaller fawns adorned with USVI Madras bows, the release stated.

The MSI Brunt family finds special joy in the holiday season. “Like mistletoe, guavaberry and poinsettias, deer are a part of holiday folklore, spreading the feeling of peace, joy and kindness. Constructed from plywood, rebar and other building materials, this is a gift of holiday spirit from MSI and SeaChest Ace,” said Vice President of MSI Tommy Brunt.

Deer are a part of traditional Christmas stories told and retold from generation to generation. Now, the Virgin Islands white-tail deer are part of the celebration. Visible day and night, this deer family scene is a beautiful extension of the ever-growing waterfront holiday light display, according to the release.

MSI Building Supplies is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and sister store, SeaChest Ace, is celebrating 75 years in business. The Brunt family and their family of employees wish the community a peaceful, loving and safe holiday season, it said.
