Physical Altercation Leads to Double Arrest for Domestic Violence

A violent domestic dispute that included strangulation and damaging of property occurred on St. Croix Monday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At about 6:45 a.m., the 911

Emergency Call Center received a telephone call of a domestic disturbance at the Mount Pleasant Housing Community. When officers arrived on scene, it was disclosed that there was a physical altercation involving Elijah Drew, 27, and his intimate partner Zularian Serrano, 27, the police report stated.

Serrano assaulted Drew

and damaged his vehicle which led Drew to become enraged and the. strangled Serrano and damaged her property, the report stated.

Both Drew and Serrano were transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station. They were both advised of their Miranda Rights and admitted to the

incident, it said.

Drew was charged with assaul and Serrano was charged with simple  assault and  battery. Both charges are acts of domestic violence, according to the report.

Drew’s defense attorney secured his release, and bail was posted in the amount of $101. Serrano was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending her advice of rights hearing set for Wednesday at the Superior Court, police said.
