Public Schools Seek Parent Feedback

The Virgin Islands Department of Education is calling on public school parents and guardians across the Territory to make their voices heard by participating in the 2026 Summer Parent Survey, an important initiative designed to gather meaningful feedback and strengthen the educational experiences of students and families.

The survey is open July 13 through Aug. 14, to parents and guardians of public-school students enrolled in PreK–12 in the St. Croix and St. Thomas-St. John Districts.

Parent feedback will provide valuable insight into family engagement, communication, student support, and other key factors that influence positive educational experiences and student success. The information collected will help VIDE better understand the needs, experiences, and priorities of families across the Territory.

“Parents are essential partners in education. We want to hear directly from our families about their experiences and priorities. Their feedback is critical as we continue strengthening our schools and working to ensure every student has the support and opportunities needed to succeed,” said Commissioner Dionne Wells-Hedrington.

To energize participation and encourage families across both districts to get involved, VIDE is launching the Parent Voice Challenge, a friendly competition between the St. Croix and St. Thomas-St. John Districts. The district and schools with the highest parent participation rates will receive special recognition and be featured across VIDE’s social media platforms. Additionally, parents and guardians who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for a chance to receive a $50 Amazon gift card, with four winners to be selected.

VIDE aims to receive at least 400 completed surveys, with a goal of 200 responses from each district. Every completed survey brings the Department closer to developing a more comprehensive understanding of the experiences and needs of public-school families.

Summer schedules may look different for every family, but sharing your voice is simple and convenient. The Summer Parent Survey can be completed online using a mobile phone, tablet, or computer, allowing parents and guardians to participate wherever they may be. Your voice matters. Your experience matters. Your feedback can help shape the future of public education in the Virgin Islands.
