The Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Varsity Basketball Program played three games in the second week of St. Thomas/St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association (IAA). The Rays won all three contests.
Ivanna Eudora Kean Lady Rays 32 – Charlotte Amalie Lady Hawks 29
The Ivanna Eudora Kean High School (IEKHS) Lady Rays started their week on the right foot by securing a signature win against their arch-rivals Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS) Lady Hawks, 32-29, in the Digna Marie Wheatley Gymnasium on Jan. 30. The Rays bigs Jada Isaac and Krystal Eddy established themselves early in the game by scoring 9 of their team’s 13 points in the opening quarter. Isaac, in her final year as a Lady Ray, went on to score a game-high 17 points. The Rays defense only allowed three Lady Hawks to register points for the entire game. Seniors Jahnesha Gomez and Yemelie Santana-Rodriguez dropped 16 and 9 points, respectively, for Charlotte Amalie High School.
Charlotte Amalie High School 68 – Gifft Hill School 41
The Charlotte Amalie High School (CAHS) Chicken Hawks used a suffocating defense, only allowing Gifft Hill School six points in the first quarter of St. Thomas/St. John Interscholastic Athletic Associations (IAA) boys basketball league game on Jan. 30 at the Digna Marie Wheatley Gymnasium on Ivanna Eudora Kean’s campus. CAHS used a balanced attack as 11 different players on the Hawks team scored at least one basket. Elijah Peltier and Caijonte Andrews were the high scorers for CAHS, with 14 and 10 points, respectively. Thomas Nicholas and Hunter Simpson led the Barracudas of Gifft Hill, also scoring 14 and 10 points, respectively. Charlotte Amalie will face All Saints School on Feb. 6 at 4:00 p.m. at Antilles School’s MCM Center. Gifft Hill School will do battle against All Saints School on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Antilles School MCM Center.

Ivanna Eudora Kean Lady Rays 40 – Antilles School Lady Canes 21
For the second time in their many games, Senior Jada Isaac and Junior Krystal Eddy ignited the Lady Rays’ offense with another productive opening frame against the Lady Canes on Wednesday. The dynamic duo teamed up to score 12 of their team’s 14 first-quarter points. Isaac finished the game with 12 points and Eddy dropped 10 for Ivanna Eudora Kean High School (IEKHS). C’Orna Greene scored a game-high 15 points for the Lady Canes. The Hurricanes will host Charlotte Amalie Lady Hawks on Friday in the second of two games scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at the MCM Center on Antilles School’s campus. The rematch between the Lady Hawks and the Lady Rays will be on Feb. 14 at the Digna Marie Wheatley Gymnasium on the campus of IEKHS.
Ivanna Eudora Kean High School 68 – Antilles School 51
The defending league champions, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Rays, got off to a fast start and never looked back in their second game of the regular season against Antilles School Hurricanes on Wednesday at the Mark C Marin Center. The Rays scored 22 points in the opening frame on their way to a 68-51 victory over the Hurricanes. Vern Frett led all scoring with 17 points for the Rays. Jayden Dixie and Jordan Fleming contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the winning team. Antilles School was led offensively by Julien Loewenstein’s 14 points and William Thompson’s 13. Antilles School will host Charlotte Amalie High on Feb. 22, at Antilles’ MCM Center. On Feb. 14, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School will welcome Charlotte Amalie High School at the Digna Marie Wheatley Gymnasium.
