Resident Questions VIPD Commissioner’s Primary Concern

Editor,

On page 6 of your March 3-9, 2008 edition of St. John Tradewinds, I read with disgust the small article about how our VIPD commissioner feels transferring officers keeps our community safe. Is this a joke? He says his “primary concern is for the safety of the entire community.” Good grief, does he expect us to believe this? Perhaps his concern would be better used to make our community safe by conducting intelligent, thorough investigations that lead to proper prosecution of criminals who kill and maim innocent people. Since his police force is incapable of doing this or apparently not willing to do it, I suggest he save his energy for assuring us his force is up to this much more important task.
