Richard Silvester Halliday Dies at 72

Richard Silvester Halliday

Richard Silvester Halliday, better known as ‘Spleng’ and also known as ‘Doc,’ died on Feb. 27 in Georgia. He was 72 years old.

 Richard Halliday was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Ann Phipps; father, Robert Halliday and stepmother: Rachael Halliday.

Richard Halliday is survived by his children: Criselda Halliday, Jewel Halliday, Alvin Halliday, Roshuan Halliday, Richael Phillips, Tiara Halliday, Deshaun Halliday, Shadiek Morris, Ashana Halliday and Taliah Halliday; sisters: Ellen Blondel, Sylvia Phipps (Deceased), Jessica Halliday Liburd, Oriella Rouse, Ezeth Halliday, Daslyn Halliday-DeGennaro: and brothers: George Halliday, Henry (Shark) Phipps (Deceased), Ian Phipps (Deceased), Percy Mitcham, Joseph Halliday, Errol (Area Kool) Halliday (Deceased), Wingrove (Pancho) and Halliday (Deceased).

He is also survived by nieces: Kernis Akers, Vincia Burroughs, Adonis Phipps, Norecia Phipps, Znessa Blondel, Samantha Blondel, Jane Ann Phipps, Elena Smith, Tisharna Halliday-Violet, Khanniqua Wheatley Shamarah Halliday, Cheryl Halliday, Shannon Johnson-Void, Shannikqua Liburd, Shaharlee Blake, Denaullia Rouse, Akacia Halliday, Shenae Francis, Oriessah Rouse, Rashema Halliday and Z’hane Halliday; nieces-in-law: Hazel Phipps and Cheryl Akers-Phipps: and nephews: Keith Phipps, Kevin Akers Phipps, Henry Williams, Anders-Phipps, Cion Phipps, Robelto James Jr., Shareed Halliday, Akeel Daniel, Akeemo Daniel, Robert Rouse, Joseph Halliday Jr. Rasheem Halliday, Teasean Halliday, Detroi Halliday, Kaylon Halliday, Deonde’ DeGennaro, Diovani Halliday, Keano DeGennaro, Aineas DeGennaro and Zhaquan Halliday.

Other survivors include grandchildren: D’andre Halliday, Malik Halliday-Harvey, Deshaun Devon Halliday jr., Kayden Halliday, J’Niyah Halliday, Elian Williams, Jahseem Halliday, Yoshaun Major Halliday and Nazeir Eli Caleb Morris; great-nieces: Chelsey Phipps, Chaymique Phipps, Juvincia Mckoy, Africa Williams, Zheneje’ Blondel-Browne, Jevo-nae Frett, Kerisia Browne and many others too numerous to mention: Ggeat nephews Philmore Powell, Dionte’ Gumbs, Dashan Richards, Zenovahra Akers-Phipps, Jahson Williams, Jabari Phipps, Jarique Phipps, Stanley Phipps JR, Akinniyi Phipps, Quan Phipps, Kvonte Phipps and many others too numerous to mention; daughter-in-law, Jermaine Halliday; brothers-in-law: Stanley Liburd, Joseph DeGennaro, Laudrick Rouse; sisters-in-law: Jasmine Halliday (wife of deceased Errol) and Jasmine Halliday (wife of Joseph); and friends: Hester Rawlins, Moses Rawlins, David and Joyce Jackson, ‘Columbus.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a first viewing from 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 5, at Celestial Chapel of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals.

The second viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 6, at Celestial Chapel of Dan Hurley Home for Funerals. Interment will be held at Western Cemetery No. 2.
