Rolando Huertas Dies at 48

Rolando Huertas of Estate Richmond died on March 25. He was 48 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Okeisha James-Huertas; adopted mother, Dorothy Benjamin; daughter, Amiah J’Nae Eshe Huertas; son, Rolando Huertas II; adopted sons: Jerome Nathanial and Tadachi Burke; mother-in-law, Deborah Peterson; fathers-in-law: Burton Peterson and Alonzo James; sisters: Mozelle Colon-Henley, Yahaira, Elizabeth and Jeanette Huertas; brothers: Hugo, Edgar and Jose Enrique Huertas; adopted brothers: Terrance Aice and Orlando Benitez Jr.; and aunts: Rafaela (Fella) Huertas, Guadalupe (Hilda) Huertas, Obdulia (Yuya) Huertas, Dominga (Minga) Huertas and Rosalia (Rosin) Huertas.

He is also survived by aunts-in-law: Judith Ayala, Janice Ayala-Gobern and Denise George; uncle, Victor Huertas; uncles-in-law: Vernon James, Larry Jackson, Wayne Williams and Joseph Gobern; sisters-in-law: Luciana and Juana Huertas, Okerah Peterson and Carla Lafong; brother-in-law, Kevin Henley; nieces: Fabiola Maldonado, Kristian Colon, Claudia Rodriguez, Nyah and Jaili Morell, Lizvette Morales and Luzdilaura Huertas; and nephews: Derrick Maldonado, Sebastian Colon, Tomas, Luis and Edgar Huertas.

More survivors include cousins: Priscila and Persida Cruz, Gertrude Allen, Irma, Leslie, Jessie and Emma Rivera, Victoria Romero, Hipolito Cruz Jr., Andrew Anthony, Jose, Jaime, Jose (Besse), Antonio (Tony) and Eddie Gonzalez, Ivan James Jr. (Ponco), Ivan G. James (Cano), Carlos Ferrer, Gabriella Huertas and Enrique Santos;

Other survivors include special friends: Robert Matthews, Robert Kressley, Maria Figueroa, Darryl (Skully) Walcott, Joe Caraballo, Luis Cedano, Luis Ortiz, Akeem Innis, the Members of the S.E.T. Team, Irma Lee Moore, William and Sidrina Joseph, Michelle Crispin, Wanda Lee Melendez, Felipe Rivera, Alexandra and Shawn Smith, Naisha Monell-Joseph and Jaleesa Gonzalez; the families of Afi Brown, Joyette and Orlando Stamp and Yvetta Bridgewater, and the Williams, Mercedes Davis and Amadee families; as well as other friends and family too numerous to mention.

The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, at the City of Refuge Worship Center. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
