Roosevelt Park Lighting of the Trees Set for Sunday Afternoon on St. Thomas

St. Thomas is gearing up for the 28th annual Lighting of the Trees at Roosevelt Park, promising an afternoon filled with holiday cheer and entertainment. Organized by We From Upstreet Inc., the event has become a long-standing tradition in the area.

Scheduled from 4:30 to 8 p.m., the event boasts activities such as caroling and performances by Dion Parson & the 21st Century Band, along with ceremonies posthumously honoring Jeremiah Lynch and Ronnie Lockhart. We From Upstreet Inc., according to the organization’s President Kyza Callwood, has been instrumental in developing the park, from its pathways to the military memorials, thanks to efforts by the late Austin “Babe” Monsanto.

Callwood highlighted the event’s significance in connecting the community within St. Thomas and kickstarting the holiday season. The festivities are sponsored by Virgin Islands Council of the Arts, the V.I. Lottery, United Jazz Foundation and Searena Villa Rental and Real Estate Company. Louis Taylor and Friends will also perform.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs during the event.
