Rosenel I. Jacobs Brown, also known as “Mammy Rose,” of Company Street died on Sept. 3. She was 77 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwards and Helena Jacobs; brothers: Omar Jacobs, Burnell Jacobs and Charles Vallard.
She is survived by her daughters: Janessa Brown, Monica Brown and Gloria Vallet (adopted daughter); adopted son: Shefton Clark; grandchildren: Jahreema Barnes, Kelah Joseph, Anthony White Jr., Kaylah Joseph, Ja’Teya Hunter, Makyla Benjamin, Makai Benjamin and Hesron (Crank) Archibald; and adopted grandchildren: John Turbe, Shawn Vallet, Winston and Johnathon Roebuck.
She is also survived by great-grandchildren: La’Quawne and Jahseim Lawrence, Je’Quan Barnes, Kejahrie Joseph, Je’Nyra Henry, Ray-Mani Williams, Re’Anna Henry, Kay’Naiah Joseph, Ryel Henry, Rayneicia Henry, Kay’Nahi Joseph and Jahnoi Henry; sister, Olevine Jacobs Rawlins; brother, Dory Jacobs; nieces: Casandra V. Cintron, Delta V. McIntosh, Sherrie and Latrell Dennery, Kiffany Rawlins, Sabrina Jacobs and Courtney Jacobs; nephews: Samuel Felder Jr., Damon Dennery, Jumell Jacobs, Dory Jacobs Jr., D’Keefe Jacobs and Christian Jacobs; 17 great nieces; and 13 great nephews.
Other survivors include sisters-in-law: Rita Vallard, Patsy Jacobs and Tonya Jacobs; godchildren: Shawn Cassius and Kofi Miller; special friends: Sandra Smalls, Antonia Ramos, Jenny Graham, Carolyn King, Elroy Yardwood, Joan Feracho and Lettica Barnes; cousins and other relatives: Vallard family, Richardson family, Barnes family, Edna Derricks and family, Glenn Dennery, Estelle Davis and family, Cramer’s Park Camping Crew and Abduel Shop Crew; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 26, at St. John’s Anglican Church. Private cremation will follow.
