STT Ranks First Among Top 10 Global Vacation Destinations Growing in Popularity

A new study reveals that St. Thomas is the first of the fastest growing vacation destinations for American tourists.

The study by ParkSleepFly analyzed Google search data for flights, vacations and hotels in popular tourist destinations around the world to discover the fastest growing vacation hotspots for U.S. tourists.

The top 10 regions increasing in popularity with American tourists

The region increasing in popularity the most amongst U.S. tourists is St. Thomas. The destination is filled with opportunities for adventure, learning and world-class dining. Searches for flights, hotels and vacations on St. Thomas saw a 77.03% increase in 2021 compared to 2020.

In second place is Toronto. With travel restrictions imposed on most international arrivals across the world, it’s no surprise to see more Americans vacationing closer to home. Compared to 2020, there have been 45.88% more searches this year for flights, hotels and vacations in Toronto.

The third destination that has seen an increase in popularity is Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the perfect destination for a sunny beach vacation. The total number of searches for flights, vacations and hotels in Cabo has increased over 41.40% in 2021.

The research also revealed the top five regions decreasing in popularity among American tourists:

Frankfurt, Germany, is the city decreasing in popularity the most amongst U.S. tourists, experiencing a decline of 61.38% between 2020 and 2021.
