Sandra Hodge Dies at 55

Sandra “Sandy” Hodge died at the age of 55, on Jan. 9.

Sandy is survived by her mother, Iola “Myrl” Hart; son, Ismael Hodge; honorary sons: Francisco “Cisco” Bonelli and Edwin Vergland; honorary daughter-in-love, Nikeysha Giddings; sisters: Merna McCarty, Deborah Leonard, Yvonne Webster, Glenda Hodge and Nicole Hodge; honorary sisters: Antonetta “Amey” Archibald, Elsie-Mae King and Angela Straun; brothers: Edwin and Coury Hodge;

brothers-in-love: William Christian Sr., Davis Webster and Shawn Bridgewater; aunt, Zulma Van Heyningen; and uncles: Campbell and Cecil Hodge.

She is also survived by nephews: Tyrone McCarty, Tony Browne, Jerome Whyte, LaShaun Webster, Jermaine Baptiste, Jeremy Charleswell, Malik Webster, Willian Christian Jr., Coury Hodge Jr. and Kaelin Hodge; great nephews: Ramel and Aiden Peoples, Jerome Whyte Jr., Trayson Donovan, King Webster and Jordyn Baptiste; honorary nephew, Leonard Maduro; nieces: Betrena “Kimmy” Christian, Watisha Farrington, Tramaine Baptiste, Kori “Princess” Hodge, Korie Hodge, Nichelle Maynard and Lenora Hodge.

Other survivors include great nieces: Asia Webster, Jae’lah Whyte, Arianna and A’Layah Buchannan and Bella Christian; honorary nieces: Leslieanne Maduro, Sarai, Leah and Xhion Maduro and Ashanti Archibald; nephews and nieces-in-love: Reginald Farrington, Latifah Whyte, Dawn McCarty, Alanzo Buchannan and Ny’Opia Lake; special cousins: Eversleigh Warner, Sandra Hodge-Hilliman and Patricia Brown; special friends: Maxcine Thomas-Charleswell, Brenda Fredericks, Melissa Dobbins, Maria David and Viya Customer Care Department; as well as other family and friends are too numerous to mention.

She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin “Rennix” Hodge Sr.; uncle, Eric O’Neal Hodge; aunt, Keturah “Baby” Carr; aunt, Melvina Edith Tonge; aunt Ruth Hodge; brother, Fitzroy Hodge; sister, Marie-Onique Hodge; nephew, Berry Christian; and niece. Latoya Leonard.

Arrangements are being made through Turnbull’s Funeral Home.  The first viewing will take place from 4-6 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home. The second viewing will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.  Interment will be at the Cemetery No. 1.
