A St. Croix man was arrested early Monday after Virgin Islands Police Department officers executing a search warrant at the Croixville Housing Apartments recovered a firearm, the V.I. Police Department announced.
The search warrant was executed at about 4 a.m. July 20 by members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, Special Operations Bureau and Intelligence Unit, police said.
According to the police report, officers made contact with Omani Abraham, who was identified as the homeowner. Police said Abraham was provided with a certified copy of the search warrant documents and remained at the residence during the search.
During the search, officers recovered a firearm. Police said Abraham claimed ownership of the firearm and was arrested on charges of carrying of a firearm openly or concealed and possession of ammunition, the police report stated.
Police said Abraham was transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was booked and processed. Unable to post $50,000 bail, he was remanded to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending an advice of rights hearing scheduled for Tuesday in Superior Court.
