Search Warrant Served for Apartment Building; Firearms and Drugs Discovered

A search warrant was issued to search the area of building 16 of Lovenlund Apartments on St. Thomas Wednesday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

After serving the search warrant, a search of the residence occurred and several illegal items were discovered during the search. Contact was made with the suspect, who was located in the area of building 16, according to the police report.

Several firearms, ammunition and an unspecified amount of marijuana and paraphernalia were found in the apartment. 28-year-old Carlos Colon Jr. was taken into custody, arrested and transported to the Richard Callwood Command, the police report stated.

Colon was charged with three counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and possession of a controlled substance. He was unable to post the bail of $50,000 and he was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
