Sgt. Ray Phillips

Sgt. Ray A. Phillips Sr. died on Sept. 28.

He is survived by his wife, Desiree Phillips; daughters: Raynelle Phillips, Suelis Escobar, Marlina Tonge and Marlinda B. Rogers; sons: Ray Phillips Jr., Michael Phillips, Keaon Wilson and Kali James; grandchildren: Antonio, Omarley, Ayden, Michael Jr., Markeel and Noah Phillips, Emanuel Watts, Zayvon Acoy, Antoniqua Bethel, Yareyliz Ilarraza, Maliya, Dwayne and Azaliya Edwards, Jahmari, Azariyah, and Jeffrey Alexandre, and Kayli James; great-grandchildren: Elthan Thompson Ilarraza and Abriel Belardo Ilarazza; sisters: Julia Sergent and Edelta Phillips Byron; and brothers: Ira R. Phillips Jr., Tyrone and Cyril Phillips, Aubrey Richards and Leander Smith.

He is also survived by nieces: Delisha Byron, Juanita Phillips, Patricia Phillips, Ria Phillips, Jessica Phillips, Leeann Phillips and Bernice Phillips, and Renee Sergent; nephews: Delroy and Delaney Byron, Mark Fludd, Winston Sergent, Cyril Phillips Jr., Bernard Phillips Jr. and Ira Phillips III; great nieces: Denalia and Denia Byron, and Dianna Byron, Kahlea Camacho, Mya Fludd, Kinyah and Kinylah Williams, and Phylicia Smith; great nephews: Delroy Byron IV, Gregory Williams III, Kyden and Mark Fludd, Bernard Phillips Jr., Gary Smith Jr., Amir McBean, Eric Phillips, Alysius Charlery Jr., Simeon, Samson and Connor Byron; and aunts: Edna Newbold and Mirian Samuel.

Other survivors include daughters-in-law: Ashley Garcia and Naisha Navarro; brothers-in-law: Delroy Byron (Chocolate), Gibbs, Blaine and Mervin Bully; sisters-in-law: Jackie Phillips (Tyron), Linda Philips (Claude), Janet A. Mike Phillips, Debra Fagan and Athlene Bully Cuffy; father-in-law: John Bully; special friends: Harvel Samuel and family, Daisy Paul and family, Lacy Byron and family, Carina Hughes, 652nd Engineer Detachment V.I. Army National Guard Family, and Tamara Williams and family; cousins and other relatives: the Archibald Family, Shervington family, Henry family, Amaro family and Penn family; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Sunny Acres. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the service at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
