Shooting on St. Croix Marks Third Homicide of 2023

A man on St. Croix was shot dead Saturday at Sunny Isle Shopping Center Parking Lot, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Shots fired were reported to the 911 Call Center by concerned citizens Saturday night. Officers were dispatched to the scene and, upon arrival, found an unresponsive Black male in a vehicle who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, the police report stated.

Emergency Medical Technicians on the scene were unable to detect any of the man’s vital signs, it said, and the victim succumbed to his injuries from the gunshot wounds on the scene, according to the police report.

The victim has been identified by next of kin as 20-year-old Andy Christian, police said.

This killing is the first homicide of 2023 on St. Croix and marks the third homicide of the year for the territory, according to the Source Homicide List.*
