St. Croix House Fire Appears to Have Started in Laundry Room

 

Investigators are probing the cause of a house fire Saturday in Estate Carlton on St. Croix,  V.I. Fire and Emergency Medical Services reported Monday night.

No one was in the residence at the time of the fire, which was reported about 11 p.m., and crews were able to extinguish the blaze in approximately 45 minutes, the press release stated. 

Initial findings by the Arson Investigation and Prevention Unit indicate the fire appears to have originated in the laundry room of the wooden home, according to the press release.

Units from the Herbert L. Canegata Fire Station (Richmond), Charles A. Seales Fire Station (Grove Place), and the Emile Henderson Sr. Fire Station (Frederiksted) responded to the blaze, according to the release.

The American Red Cross rendered assistance to the home’s occupants, the release stated.
