St. Croix Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Tyrique Parris turned himself in at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station on St. Croix Tuesday after a warrant for his arrest on attempted murder and other charges was issued on May 25.

Parris, 18, was arrested for attempted murder, possession of a dangerous weapon during the crime of violence, and aiming and discharging, according to a V.I. Police Department press release.

According to the police, on the night of Nov. 15, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a call of shots being fired near the Barren Spot Village Mall. A follow-up investigation revealed an argument at the Super Tank Service Station, Estate Diamond Ruby, between two victims and Parris, police said. The victims got into their vehicle and left the area to avoid Parris, but he allegedly pursued them and opened fire on their vehicle while driving near the Barren Spot Village Mall, according to police.

Unable to post $100,000 bail, Parris was remanded to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing set for Wednesday in Superior Court.
