St. Croix Man Uses Car Battery to Illegally Gain Entry into Residence

A St. Croix man was arrested and charged with breaking into an acquaintance’s home, the V.I. Police Department reported Wednesday.

Police were dispatched Monday to Bonne Esperance for a reported burglary. They met the victim, who explained that an acquaintance, Emeka Watson, broke her window and used a car battery to damage her front door to gain entry into her home. While inside, he attempted to hit the victim. Watson fled the scene before the officers’ arrival, according to the police report.

Watson, 21, turned himself into police Tuesday, where he was charged with burglary and destruction of property, the police report stated.

No bail was set as per the Domestic Violence law. He was processed and transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing at the Superior Court, police said.
