St. John Residents Urged to Secure Homes, Burglaries Investigated

Police on St. John are investigating several recent residential burglaries on that island. The police investigation indicates that one person may be responsible for these break-ins.

According to the police reports, the suspect burglarized homes while people were asleep. The suspect would then search for cash. Unfortunately, in one instance, a male victim awoke and was robbed at knifepoint of his cash. Two other people in the home were awakened by the victim’s cries for help and were threatened by the suspect before he left the area.

St. John Deputy Chief Darren Foy asks residents to properly secure their homes.

“We want to make sure residents on St. John lock and secure their doors, windows and other places where a criminal can gain access. It’s an unfortunate situation that these incidents happened, but we want to make sure everyone is aware and focused on their safety.”

Police urge anyone having information on these cases to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives at 714-9801; 715-5516 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
