St. John’s Bethany Moravian Church Celebrates 265th Anniversary

Bethany Moravian Church on St. John

The Bethany Moravian Church will be celebrating its 265th Anniversary of Ministry, Mission, and Making disciples in the five boroughs of Saint John (Sankt Jan) with a week of activities from Oct. 18-27. The week will culminate with the Anniversary Service and Love Feast on Sunday Oct. 27.

Our theme, “Up to this point the Lord has helped us” reflects our journey from 1741 when the first Moravians came to St. John. In 1754 Brother John Brucher was assigned as St. John’s first resident missionary, according to Pastor Vankys J. Isaac.

The sanctuary was restored after the storms of 2017. We give glory to God for all His favors to us. As a congregation, we look to the future knowing that God is not finished with us. What God may yet do with us we do not know but let us praise Him for what He has done.
