The St. John Cancer Fund was formed in July 2012 by St Johnians who wanted to find a more effective way to unitize our fund raising abilities.
None of the founding members had experience with non profit organizations. We reached out to Community Foundation VI to manage the monies raised.
Within the 4 years the fund has been in operation, we have granted over $325,000 directly to St Johnians battling cancer.
Our main event Light up the Night is very much a grass roots movement. No corporate sponsorship was received, however the community came together to support each other.
The Beach Bar continued its reign as top fundraising team with $28,000. A huge thank you to the new owners Sherry and Reed Able, managers, Adam Dow and Jimmy. Thank you for your dedication and passion to the fund.
I am delighted to announce that Light up the Night 2017 raised $102,150.36. Thank you, Love City, St John for the Tremendous effort and a wonderful display of the St John Community’s love!
