STT Man Charged with Burglary, Kidnapping

Simon L. Rawlins, Jr., age 33 of Thomasville Apartments, turned himself in to police Sunday after learning that he was wanted in an incident that took place Saturday night.

He was subsequently arrested, charged with first-degree burglary, kidnapping, simple assault, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and disturbance of the peace, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the police report, officers made contact with the victim, an adult female at the Schneider Regional Medical Center on Saturday, June 12. The victim told them that Rawlins, who she said was her boyfriend, found her at a friend’s residence and forced her into his truck at gunpoint. The victim, whose name was not released in accordance with VIPD police, said she managed to escape and approached officers to advise them of what happened.

Rawlins was jailed without bail, in accordance with the territory’s domestic violence laws, pending his advice of rights hearing.
